Working draft

Domain registration terms

The rules below apply to domain registration, use, renewal, transfer and deletion.

Last updated 13 August 2026 · version 2026-08-13-draft-1

1. Registrant and supply chain

The registrant is the person or organization holding the registry-granted right to use the domain. Domenebutikken is the reseller and first support contact. The sponsoring registrar may differ by domain and is shown in the service or identified on request. Realtime Register B.V. is planned for new gTLD orders; existing domains may remain elsewhere.

2. Applicable rules

The registrant accepts current ICANN, sponsoring registrar and registry rules for the selected TLD. Checkout must show the applicable links and capture explicit assent with the terms version, time, user and domains.

3. Data and verification

Registrant details must be reliable and updated promptly, and for gTLDs within seven days of a change. The registrant must respond to accuracy inquiries. Invalid data or failed verification may cause rejection, suspension or deletion, and the registrant needs a lawful basis for third-party contact data.

4. Names, rights and lawful use

Registration and use must not infringe trademarks, names, copyright or other rights. The registrant is responsible for services connected to the domain. gTLD disputes may proceed under UDRP or URS, and a domain may be suspended, transferred or deleted under binding policy or legal order.

5. Renewal, expiry and recovery

Renewal occurs only after approved payment and registrar acceptance. An expired domain may stop working quickly. If a redemption period exists, recovery may be available at the quoted fee; after the deadline the domain may be deleted and registered by someone else.

6. Transfers

Domenebutikken cooperates with valid transfer requests and does not hold a domain solely for an unpaid invoice unless registry rules permit it. Locks, verification, disputes or binding policy may delay a transfer. Auth codes and unlocking may require renewed authentication.

7. DNS and nameservers

The customer is responsible for correct DNS data. Free registrar DNS may be offered without a separate availability guarantee. Hosting connections may change only the records previewed and approved and must preserve unrelated mail and verification records.

8. Business indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, a business customer indemnifies Domenebutikken, the sponsoring registrar and relevant registry operator for third-party claims caused by its registration, use or breach. This does not limit mandatory consumer rights and requires Norwegian legal review.
